RESTLESSLIST

drownedinsound.com 12/11/06 Brighton Pressure Point: Restlesslist create blurry yet crunchy dance-scapes that round up a world full of genres with an electric cowbell, a temperamental laptop and a cheeky wink. Some songs involve hot, dusty mariachi trumpet mixed with chat show theme tune muzak. Some songs sounds a bit like ska had it been invented in a lift by Dracula, and some sound like post-rock had it ditched all those tedious ideas about stealth. Some songs flit between being shadowy and ambient to being sunny and full of handclaps and... uhm... it's great (This isn't the sort of band you use big words for) Oh, and one of them is also in Electric Soft Parade, but that's by the by really.

Life Is Easy Records released Butlin Breaks 7" in May 2006.

Butlin Breaks 7" is available from Rough Trade Shops

Also available from Puregroove Records "Lovely instrumental workings that have a touch of the ILIKETRAINS about them, with their melancholy riffs and supersized drums. A real grower and the B-side, a kind of soundtracky mariachi thing, is just inspiring"

Restlesslist were featured in an article on Brighton bands in the Irish Post written by Ian Chambers: click to read Five-piece band featuring Tom White and Matt Twaites of The Electric Soft Parade. They play sample-heavy instrumental music using synths, looped guitars, keyboards and turntables as well as the usual drums, bass and guitars. The band recently headlined their first ever gig at local venue The Freebutt. Currently there are only two limited edition EPs available but there’s sure to be some new material following in the not too distant future (see above!!) Email from Adam: (reprinted with permission) Just been watching ESP down in York at Fibbers - absolutely fantastic! I'd only heard songs from Holes in the Wall... I thoroughly enjoyed the tracks from that album plus the rest of the stuff I didn't know was truly impressive. The tracks I heard from The American Adventure plus the new EP were great enough to have my girlfriend and I buy both the The American Adventure LP and the new Human Body EP between us.

What made my night though was discovering Restlesslist! Absolutely fantastic - they made my brain melt! They were truly, fantastically amazing and at the end of it all I was just laughing out of sheer hysterical happiness, brilliant stuff.
Their debut headline gig took place at the Freebutt on September 3rd: Restlesslist dispense epic and anthemic instrumentals, bordered with an intelligent post rock sound - their recent demo cdr has been drawing admiring glances among the baffled looks and head scratching.
Photos... click most of them for larger except the last one... Many thanks to Kirstie xxx
